‘...Feathered Sky’ employs the use of a wide angle fish eye lens, allowing the photographer to emphasise the curvature of the earth and the grand scale of the scene before her, bringing us the full impact of the explosive yet delicate nature of the sky and mercury-like water below.

Although the subject matters of nature and our environment are well documented, few photographers offer the quirky sensitivity that Holding manages so effortlessly. As the polar aspects of her photography and the inner world of her self doubt converge at their own inexplicable pace, her work continues to evolve, beautifully.

And yet in 1999 on leaving Falmouth, Cj Holding was unable to see the obvious: a potential career in photography. Rather, this young artist worked hard at a series of mundane jobs in order to fund her passion, and tentatively began to showcase her work over the next few years. Photography was Holding’s raison d’être, her ‘day job’ only a means to an end.

The balance shifted in 2007 with the opportunity to broaden her horizons and bring together her skills in a more coherent focused manner. Thus the decisive conviction Holding wields naturally as a photographer is being given a new platform in her most recent incarnation as gallery owner. The Studio Gallery opened in the autumn of 2007, debuting with an impressive line up including Paul Mellia, Superhero artist for MARVEL offering Originals and Hand Embellished Artist’s Proofs, Ceramics by Tjok Dessauvage and Design by MORPH.

A white-washed barn set in the picturesque countryside location of Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, The Studio Gallery is already synonymous with quality, reflected in the calibre of its exhibiting artists. Limited Edition Prints by Sir Terry Frost and Graffiti artist BANKSY have already adorned the walls, whilst Wire Sculpture by Rachael Ducker, Bronze by Loet Vanderveen and smaller items of mosaic work and jewellery design have contributed to the delicious and eclectic array of eye candy exhibited at this fledgling venue.
