          Dry Mounting

Dry mounting is the process of bonding an image permanently onto a mounting substrate.

Using a vacuum press, different acid-free adhesives for different media, together with knowledge and experience, dry mounting is a very specialist process. Althought the process is simple and takes a few minutes, an in-depth understanding of dry mounting techniques is essential.

If you are bringing your own artwork to us, there are a number of things to consider before performing this process:

Firstly consider the artwork you wish to mount...

        • How will it react to heat?
        • Does it require pre-drying to remove excess moisture?
        • Does it require pre-pressing to remove any creases?
        • Is the artwork clean and free from dust / dirt / stickers or tape?
        • Is the artwork porous?
        • Does it have an image that may shift (as in the case of pastels)?

        • The Dry Mounting process provides a permanent, perfectly flat, board mounted product. Suitable for key [127767] doesn't existCanvas, key [127770] doesn't existFine Art and key [127772] doesn't existPhotographic prints, dry mounting is the ideal way to finish your print, particularly if you wish to frame it.

As dry mounting is a permanent fixture, you also need to consider the value of your artwork. We do not recommend this process for very valuable pieces, particularly Originals.
